Student-talk just isn’t cutting it as a place for Pitzer students to speak out.

Pitzer College has lacked its own student newspaper for the last two years, but we are ready to resurrect it under a new name and a refined vision. The Pitzer Newspaper, previously known as “The Peel,” disappeared when its leaders graduated, and with them most of the records were lost. Thus, we are starting fresh with a dedicated leadership team and an awareness of the need for sustainable record-keeping and consistent community support.

We need you, our readers and creators, to help us build and maintain Pitzer’s voice.

The Pitzer media silence has resulted in an unacceptable lack of representation of our school’s core values and the diligent work of our students, faculty, and staff.

As long as there is no central location for the Pitzer community to share its diverse voices, history will be lost, and our institution will continue to struggle in making real and lasting change. We are here to hold each other accountable to the standards of social justice, intercultural understanding and environmental sensitivity that we preach.

The contentious political climate has reminded us that media representation is critical to shaping public opinion. The Outback is committed to remaining an accessible platform for all members of our community to thoughtfully express themselves.

The Outback is here for you. Help us make this what you want it to be. We ask that you submit work to us, give us your feedback, and share your passion with everyone who will listen.

General meetings are every Sunday at 1:00 P.M. in the outdoor classroom next to the Grove House.
